Revolution Trophy, Sports Prototype Cup to return to Formula 1® support bill at Monza

  • Formula 1® Grand Prix at Monza added to Sports Prototype Cup calendar
  • Race exclusively open to Revolution Trophy entrants
  • Second Formula 1® support race for Cup and futuristic Revolution A-One

The Revolution Trophy and Sports Prototype Cup will return to a Formula 1® paddock for the second time this autumn as an official support race to the FORMULA 1 HEINEKEN GRAN PREMIO D’ITALIA 2021 at Monza on 10-12 September.

Sports Prototype Cup promoter PitBox91 and Revolution Race Cars are proud to join a Formula 1® support package for the second time after a highly popular outing during the FORMULA 1 HEINEKEN GRANDE PRÉMIO DE PORTUGAL 2020 in October last year. Less than a year later, a field of Revolution A-One prototype race cars will roar through the historic Monza park.

Racing within the Sports Prototype Cup, the Revolution Trophy is the only racing category reserved exclusively for the 530bhp/tonne Revolution A-One. Sports Prototype Cup promoter PitBox91 has already announced dates for the rest of its 2021 calendar, including rounds at Silverstone, Portimao, Donington Park and Le Castellet. All rounds will include the Revolution Trophy, with additional categories welcome at select races.

Monza’s combination of fast, flowing corners and challenging chicanes will perfectly demonstrate the high downforce and exquisite design of the Revolution A-One, which complies with the latest FIA safety regulations. As of 2021, the innovative ‘double halo’ is mandatory on all cars to further increase driver safety and the cars will feature a power upgrade compared to the 2020 spec models.

The two races at Monza are open to registered Sports Prototype Cup teams and drivers to enter. Revolution Race Cars will also offer new-build cars for sales or race-hire for the event and the full 2021 season, beginning at Silverstone Grand Prix circuit on 29 May.

James Bailey, Director, PitBox91 and Promoter, Sports Prototype Cup: “We’re thrilled to confirm a return to the Formula 1 paddock for Sports Prototype Cup and the Revolution Trophy. Our debut Formula 1 support race last year was a resounding success and brought the Revolution A-One to new audiences. Adding Monza to the calendar provides our customers with a rare opportunity to race on one of the most famous Grand Prix tracks in the world, in front of the ‘tifosi’ on a Formula 1 weekend.”

Phil Abbott, Founder and Managing Director, Revolution Race Cars: “Our 2021 car moves the Revolution A-One to a new performance level with 530hp/tonne, enhanced aerodynamics and the highest safety levels in its class with the innovative full carbon construction and double-halo head protection.  It will be perfectly suited to the fast and flowing Monza track.”
